The Center Players
SING! DANCE! ACT! CREATE!
When you choose to lose yourself, who knows what you might find!
-Aladdin, the Musical
The Center Players is a musical theatre troup for performers ages 8-18. Each of our 10-week sessions features focused classes in dance, acting, and vocal performance alongside the myriad lessons to be learned while preparing a fully staged musical. Fall and Spring semesters culminate with a professional quality production on the historic Maguire Theatre stage.
Applause! Applause! Scholarship Program
With the generous support of business and individual contributors to our Applause! Applause! program, The Center Players are able to offer a limited number of tuition scholarships each semester. Sponsors are recognized in the production playbill and at intermission during every performance. Our goal is for the theatre arts to be available to every interested student. THANK YOU to all our sponsors who help make that happen!
It’s been 10 years since the very first Center Players production and we are having a party–on stage, of course! Join us this fall as we celebrate ten years of musical theatre magic, complete with sparkles and confetti!
2019 FALL SESSION
Sep 10—Nov 24
Tue & Thu*
*plus 3 Saturday rehearsals & tech week schedule
Join us in celebrating 10 years of musical theatre magic! The Center Players rehearse each production for ten weeks, working with a professional staff of instructors, designers, and coaches to stage a fully-produced musical in the historic Maguire Theatre at Arts of the Albemarle.
Along with rehearsing the show, students will also receive focused instruction in music theory, vocal technique, Broadway dance foundations, and a variety of acting techniques. We will begin the session with four weeks of intensive training leading up to auditions. Every Center Player will be a part of the production; auditions are to determine specific roles.
