(Tues-Fri 11-6 and Sat 10-4)Regional creative groups including Albemarle Paint Out Painters, Cann Painting Pals, Perquimans Arts League Watercolor Club, Outer Banks Tuesday Painters, AOA Open Studio, and the Pocosin Arts Metal Gild will showcase their work in this multimedia group show. Enjoy works created as a product of environments “from marsh to sea,” representing these locals and their muses.
Join us for an opening reception during the First Friday Art Walk on April 5 from 4-7 PM.

Students should call (252) 777-ARTS to get their discount.Join us in the Maguire Theater for an evening of musical entertainment dedicated to the Sounds of Soul. The Elizabeth City State University Choir and Studio 137—an ensemble comprised of applied voice students studying under Dr. Walter R. Swan, Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities at ECSU—will take you through a journey that shows the strength, love, and protection of humankind. Expect to hear crowd favorites from a range of genres including choral literature, spirituals, soul, pop, ballads, Broadway, jazz, and gospel as you enjoy an evening of storytelling through sound.

Open Life Drawing

Admission: $5 for high school students and $10 for adultsOn the fourth Saturday of each month our Madrin Studio on N Poindexter St. invites artists of all levels to work independently in a group setting, creating from the reference of a live model. Bring your own supplies and your medium of choice—we’ll provide the tables, chairs, and coffee. Admission is $5 for high school students and $10 for adults (pay cash or card at the door), which goes directly toward paying the model.

Annie Jr. - The Center Players

Tickets are $15 apiece or $50 for four in advance, or $18 apiece day-of.Leaping Lizards! Elizabeth City will “stick up its chin and grin and sing ‘Tomorrow! Tomorrow!’” when The Center Players perform Annie JR., it was announced by Drew Cohen, president of Music Theatre International (MTI). Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning best musical by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. tells the story of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents.
The local award-winning children's theatre group The Center Players makes its return to the Maguire Theater under the direction of Natalie Hill with this fan favorite. The production welcomes a cast of fresh faces—many of whom are making their stage debuts.

Third Thursday Shag Night

AOA Madrin StudioJoin us for the May Third Thursday session, a shag night with River City Shag Club, Inc. Whether you’re new to this form of dance, an experienced shagger, or just coming for the music, all are welcome at this free community event!
Dancers are invited to bring their own snacks and a cash bar will be available with water, sodas, beer, and wine. The event will take place in the AOA Madrin Studio, at 115 N Poindexter St.

Spring Bouquet Watercolor Workshop with Rebecca Davis
Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 10 AM-12 PM
$50 if bringing your own supplies or $70 with supplies included.Students will go through the process of painting flowers in watercolor, also discussing form, design, and watercolor techniques along the way. Have fun create your own bouquet of delicate blooms through multiple techniques like layering, lifting, and splattering. All levels are welcome.
Select the corresponding ticket to indicate whether you will bring your own supplies (can all be purchased at Hobby Lobby) or need AOA to provide.

Paint the Harbor of Hospitality: Watercolor Workshop Series
April 26, May 17, and June 28, from 10 AM-1 PM
Registration is $35 per class or $90 for all three.This three-class mini-series of watercolor fun will include guest artists and a new perspective in painting cityscapes and riverscapes. While we recommend that you take all three together, you are welcome to register for just one or two. The sequence doesn’t matter, just come enjoy learning how to paint our hometown!
